Why did you start All Aboard Whistle?
I’ve never been able to do things half way. Why go small when you can go BIG? I wanted to through our son a train themed birthday party and his “Stache Bash” the year before was epic! I knew I had to plan a party that would top the last one so I started with the theme and worked from there. He had been getting really into trains so I decided to go with trains for the party theme. I had all the details in place – food, decor, cake – and now all I needed were the party favors for our engineer guests. After coming up empty handed from my search I decided I needed to make them myself.
What made you start your own business?
It came down to two options. I could either order 10 whistles for $50, or 50 whistles for $200. Now, for some people, it would have been an easy decision. Buy the 50 whistles and move on. But, for the over the top, go big or go home woman that I am, I decided to go with the 50 and see if anyone wanted one on Etsy. I bought my wood burner and personalized whistles for our train guests. I thought they turned out pretty well so I posted one on Etsy and I had my first sale within the first week! I am honestly ALL about the hustle so I was hooked. I upgraded my burner, ordered more whistles, and got myself an actual business plan. It consisted of buy more whistles, personalize more whistles, sell more whistles. BRILLIANT, I know!
What is your plan for All Aboard Whistle?
I have been adding train items to my Etsy shop based on what my clients ask for. Sometimes I create custom orders when I’m asked and other times I add an entire line of new items to my shop. I have had so many clients thank me for making such beautiful whistles and train hats that I want to do more for them (and you!). I want to do the hard work for you, so you can sit back and actually enjoy the party you throw! I want to give you the most fun DIY projects and make it all available at the tip of your fingers. Your guests will wonder “How did she plan this incredible party?”. All Aboard Whistle will be the ACE in your pocket. No-one needs to know how easy it was for you to plan your lil engineer’s party but you and me!
